Celebrate the San Angelo Symphony’s opening concert of the 2023-2024 season with a fiesta that you won’t soon forget! Originally titled, Rumba, Gershwin’s Cuban Overture will deliver Caribbean rhythms and Cuban native percussion, with a wide range of instrumental technique. Not to be outdone, guest artist, Sofía Ros, performs the Argentine master of Tango Nuevo, Astor Piazzolla’s Concert for Bandoneon. This concert is sure to have you dancing in the aisles!

Winner of the 2012 Eric Sorantin Young Artists Competition, Mikhail Berestnev returns to San Angelo for a night of orchestral greats including Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concert No. 1. Spotlighting a few of our local outstanding orchestra members, Fagner Rocha, Emilee Hall-Rocha, John Irish, and Janelle Ott, will take the stage and perform pieces by Bach, Mozart and Haydn. Don’t miss this electrifying evening of classical music by your very own San Angelo Symphony musicians!

GERSHWIN, ROSSINI, & THE FRANK VIGNOLA TRIO

The San Angelo Symphony takes the stage for an exciting night of Gershwin, Rossini and Britten along with the famed Vignola Trio. Starting the night with the suite from the folk tale of Porgy and Bess, audience goers will be dazzled by the dramatic action from this popular piece followed by the cheerful earful of exuberant jazz created by the Vignola Trio. Rounding out the night, San Angelo’s own, Rick Mantooth, will narrate Britten’s Young People’s Guide to the Orchestra showing off the incredible capacities of the various sections of the orchestra.
