Laura Ospina has played as soloist with the foremost orchestras in Colombia and has presented recitals in the main concerts halls across Colombia. In recent years Ms. Ospina has been active teaching. From 2004 to 2008 she served as Cello Professor at the Central University of Bogota and at the University of Andes.
In 2009 she was invited to play as soloist with Holguin Symphony Orchestra in Cuba and collaborated with the National Orchestra in La Habana. During 2010 and 2011 she played with the International Chamber Ensemble in Rome, Italy.
Ms. Ospina completed her advanced studies with the polish pedagogue Henryk Zarzycki at the National University of Colombia in 2002. From 1999 to 2000 Ms. Ospina was principal cellist for the Cundinamarca’s Philharmonic Orchestra. From 2000 to 2003 she played as Assistant Principal at the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogota and from 2003 to 2008 she served as Principal Cellist of the National Symphony of Colombia.
Ms Ospina finished her Master degree in Cello Performance at Texas Christian University under the tutelage of Dr. Jesus Castro Balbi. She is Principal Cellist of San Angelo Symphony and collaborates with Las Colinas Symphony, Irvin Symphony and Plano Symphony.
Ms Ospina lives in Fort Worth with her husband, clarinetist Ivan Petruzziello, and her sonTomas.
